Automotive Design Professional

I am a life-long enthusiast of automobiles, racing, art, and design. My passion for cars and car design blasted into overdrive when I saw my first Porsche at a very young age. It was a white 930, on display at a dealership showroom, sometime in the early 80’s. It solidified my dream of pursuing a career in car design, and design machines like THAT. The kind that takes your breath away and sears itself into your memory. I remember this experience vividly, it is the foundation of my approach to design and art to this day.

Fast forward to my college years, I followed my dream and graduated with a transportation design degree from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. An internship at Volkswagen/Audi’s Design Center California, at the height of the brands’ growing influence on global automotive design, was pivotal in exposing me to the inner workings of a highly creative design studio. After graduating from Art Center, I moved to Michigan and joined Ford Motor Company’s design team in Dearborn, where I worked on various Mustang generations, other Ford and Lincoln models, as well as specialty vehicles.

The next phase of my career has undoubtedly been the most fun. As a design manager, my projects include the 2013 NASCAR Fusion, various racing versions of the Mustang, and branding projects for Ford Performance (previously Ford Racing). In 2013, I was honored to be chosen as design manager for the 2017 Ford GT program, where my team and I were responsible for the exterior design of the road and race versions of the car. We were also tasked with designing the vehicle race livery / Le Mans race garage branding / race team transport truck branding / crew uniforms / driver suits / merchandise and apparel design, as well as artwork for driver autograph cards.

In 2018, I joined Multimatic Inc., to start an in-house design studio and support their various automotive clients with studio design services. One of our first programs was the design and development of the 2020 Ford GT Mk II track vehicle, which included bespoke, tailored livery designs for each client. My latest program is the Ford GT Mk IV, another track-only variant of the GT chassis, marking the end of the production run of the platform.

Throughout my life and career, I have always loved art and painting, and see it as the perfect companion to the business of design. Given the incredibly talented group of automotive artists active in the field today, I am excited to share my passions and perspective on the genre with you, so check back often for new work.
