Bespoke Automotive Art and Sculpture

Welcome to Garen Nicoghosian Design Automotive Art and Sculpture! Combining my love of art and sculpture with over 23 years of experience as an automotive design professional, I aim to share my passion for the automobile with you by offering unique original artwork and limited edition prints and sculptures.

I feel fortunate that my day job is indeed my dream job, as I’ve pursued an interest in design for as long as I can remember, and that is what I do for a living. With the opportunity to contribute to as well as lead the design development of many iconic vehicles, my day-job as a car designer has been incredibly gratifying, and fun! As they say, do what you love for a living, and you’ll never “work” a day in your life! So why did I decide to take the next step and launch a secondary career as an artist? Well, sometimes, it’s nice to just do a painting, create a sculpture, or design an event poster for the sake of art, with no strings attached. We sketch and do renderings as a part of the design development of a vehicle, and these sketches and renders are usually quick, and ultimately more about describing the shape and usage of the vehicle rather than being used purely as art. Sure, they do convey the emotion of a particular design direction, and are used to convince large corporations to invest massive amounts of money in developing the vehicle, but they are still just a part of the tools that are utilized in vehicle design development.

A painting, on the other hand, allows the artist to explore a wider range of possibilities in showing the emotion of a product. Sometimes it’s all about the shadows, or the details of a particular part of the automobile takes center stage, aggressive perspective views come into play, and so on. Creating automotive art allows me to use a broader set of tools and styles to present the viewer with what is essentially the soul of a vehicle. It offers a level of freedom outside of the process of design, and provides the opportunity to better tell a story. It’s a creative outlet in addition to my job as a creative designer!
